Ryusenji Temple is the head temple of the Shingon sect Daigoha and is located in Dorogawa Onsen, Okuyamato (Tenkawa Village). The entire town of Dorogawa Onsen is a space away from everyday life and encompasses an atmosphere of Shugendo, an amalgamation of traditional Shinto and Buddhist spiritualism. At Ryusenji Temple you can experience Gomagyo (Fire) and Mizugyo (Water) purification rituals. This is the best tour if you are interested in unique Japanese beliefs such as Shugendo.

The Gomagyo (Fire) Experience begins with an information session by the head priest, followed by the writing of your prayer on a Goma stick, and culminates in the Goma offering ceremony, lasting approximately 30 minutes.
The Mizugyo (Water) Experience includes a traditional purification ritual, with the ritual and changing of clothes also lasting approximately 30 minutes.
